Links to External Sites on Building Performance

As for any subject, there is a wide range of material on Building Performance Analysis available on the internet. This page provides a selection of links that take the reader to pages and documents that contribute deeper insights on the topic. These links are regularly updated, however with the continuous change of the web it is not impossible that some links become inactive at some point; please do notify us at pieter@bldg-perf.org if that happens. It is recommended that one keeps copies of material that are of value for scholarship or other activities.

  • Webpage of the California Commissioning Collaborative (CACX) dedicated to the Performance Tracking Handbook, which provides access to a digital version of the handbook as well as some performance tracking success stories.

  • Websites of associations in the area of building services/HVAC:

    • IBPSA, International Building Performance Simulation Association

    • ASHRAE, American Association of Heating, Air-conditioning and Refrigeration Engineers

    • CIBSE, Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers

  • Homepage of ISO, the International Organization for Stadardization, with information and access to a wide range of standards.

  • ASTM International Building Standards.

  • ASHRAE's High Performing Buildings magazine (online).

  • AskNature for inspiration in the area of biomimicry, provided by the Biomimicry Institute. Works with a range of building related terms, such as energy, building, comfort, lighting, acoustics and others.

  • AndrewMarch.com provides a nice overview of some free tools, a blog, and project overviews by one of the makers and shakers in the building simulation tool community.

  • Project StaSIO (Standard Simulation Inputs and Outputs) is an interesting effort by a group of people in IPBSA-USA which attempts to streamline early design simulation.

  • www.building-performance.org is a website with a name very close to ours. However, this is the home of the Building Performance Association, an industry association in the USA that aims to advance the performance of buildings, especially homes.

  • Inaugural lecture by Pieter de Wilde, as given at the University of Plymouth on 10 May 2018.
