Energy Modelling (Chapter)

The Handbook of Sustainable Building Design and Engineering, edited by Dejan Mumovic and Mat Santamouris,  was first published by Earthscan in 2009. The second edition appeared through Routledge in 2019. Both versions contain a chapter on Energy Modelling by Pieter de Wilde and Godfried Augenbroe. In the first edition this is chapter 4; in second edition it can be found as chapter 2.3.

The chapter gives a broad introduction to the domain of modelling and simulation. It also provides sections on the wide variety of energy modelling tools, their application to the design and engineering of energy efficient buildings, various challenges in the field, and presents recent intiatives and outlooks (from a 2019 viewpoint).
